Artwork production and installation in Madrid

Since its founding in 1999, art project has been drawing on more than 25 years of expertise in the technical implementation of international art projects. Our model is based on exclusively French manufacturing within our 2,000 m² facility. Equipped with a 10-ton overhead crane, we control the entire chain: from the design office (structural engineering) to the transformation of materials (metal, wood, technical glass, composites), to transport and on-site installation.

Challenges of technical implementation in Madrid's urban planning

Installing artworks in the Spanish capital requires careful management of road constraints. Madrid's historic center, with its granite pavements and restricted access, requires meticulous logistical planning to avoid any damage to heritage sites at art project.

Load engineering and underground networks:

The density of the metro network and underground parking lots beneath the Paseo del Prado and Puerta del Sol limits the load-bearing capacity of the ground. Our partner engineers produce specific calculation notes for the distribution of loads from lifting cranes. We coordinate the obtaining of permits for the occupation ofpublic space from the Ayuntamiento, taking into account the constraints of the Madrid 360 (ZBE) zone.

Production in French workshops and securing the flow to Castile

Centralizing manufacturing in France guarantees the industrial precision that is essential for complex assemblies. This off-site process allows each component to be validated before it is shipped to the Iberian Peninsula.

Validation by dry run and export protocol:

Thanks to our 10-ton lifting capacity, each piece undergoes a full dry assembly in the workshop. This technical step allows us to test the tolerance of multi-material joints (technical glass/metal, blown neon) and to ensure the final assembly in Madrid. Transport is then carried out by specialized convoys, adapted to the geographical constraints of crossing the Pyrenees.

Structural resistance to Spain's continental climate

The climate of the Madrid Meseta, characterized by extreme temperature variations and intense dryness, dictates a rigorous approach to materials science at art project.

Control of expansion and protection against UV radiation:

Our design office calculates the expansion joints required for metal structures subject to high temperature gradients. We apply technical surface treatments (powder coating, specific varnishes) to guarantee the chromatic and structural stability of composites, blown neon and metals in the face of Madrid's intense solar radiation.
